Check with other BUSers (I have 11 BUSers on MSN, an average of 3 are usually online :)) if BUS is down for them, stop panicking after I find it's just my computer/it's down.

Then just carry on as normal, I guess.
:o

I know it's weird, but, I don't find any problem occupying myself while it's down..
For me it's just a minor "dammit" thing.
The "is it just me or is it down?" is worst for me.

Hey folks, as you know, on July 3rd the board is going down for an upgrade. I am stickifying this thread so that you can start brainstorming for ideas of how you can cope if you are in a situation where normally you would post on the board.

Here is the thread on Main that discusses the upgrade.
there is, in the end, the letting go.

there's a thread somewhere about motivational boxes. I don't know if that's the one or not.

The recent Bus blip made me think of this thread. So, what's your plan?

This just happened for me yesterday, and I remembered this thread, but couldn't come up with a plan at the time. So I decided to do it today to try to keep last night's awfulness from happening again, or at least have more options to try first.

First things first

:redstar: Pay enormous attention to how everything I'm doing feels and affects my emotions, thoughts, and intensity of flashbacks; adjust as needed and stop anything that’s making it worse to move onto something else
:star: Take anxiety meds
:ylwstar: Journal with my muse/imaginary friend
:grnstar: Shut myself in back 'safe' room
:bluestar: Optional: robe, heater, heating pad, electric blanket, fluffy pillow, or open windows if fresh air feels good

Daytime options

:redstar: If it’s sunny and warm, hoopwalk around favorite nearby greenway looping a lake is an option
:star: If it’s open, local free art museum and sculpture garden or one of the other cheap or free art museums
:ylwstar: Punching bag

Other options

:redstar: my calm and soothing ‘It's easier to think about Dolphins than to NOT think about rhinoceroses’ playlist; or some custom white noise selections I made of favorite ambient sounds
:star: Reading Diana Wynne Jones, Terry Pratchett, or Tad Williams’s ‘Otherland’ series
:ylwstar: reading some other e-book I have waiting to be read, paying attention to what increases stress and steering clear
:grnstar: Reading what I call my ‘Sennsucht’ wish-fulfillment stories or writing new ones
:bluestar: Ukulele
:dkpurpstar: Playing ‘The Beautiful Dream’ or ‘Lunar Flowers’ on my iPhone, these gorgeous free games evoke a peaceful feeling I like to think is similar to zen gardeners raking their gravel into patterns, or some other hypnotic repetitive soothing act
:pinkstar: Scream or cry into pillow
:grystar: cutting out shapes from cardstock using templates to make 3D shapes for collages
:blkstar: cleaning something really well
:redstar: make gummy candy
:star: downloading, sorting, editing pictures from camera

Journal questions

:redstar: What do I feel?
:star: How can I make it easier?
:ylwstar: What do I wish?
:lgrnstar: How can I give myself my wishes in fantasy?
:lblstar: What has worked before, even in the distant past?

Love,
Holly

Just pointing out this thread again as we had a longish period of downtime yesterday and today... always good to have a plan!
