Hydroxyzine for SI Urges?

I've been told by a doctor that Hydroxyzine stops the urges to SI. Has anyone had any experience with this med for that? Would be interested in everyone's opinion on this.

Depends on the reason for the urges. It's an antihistamine, so, if the urge is to scratch an itch, it might help. Antihistamines are also sometimes drugs of abuse, though, so it might complicate other compulsive behavior.

I was prescribed this as a PRN for anxiety. 50 mg knocks me out for a good 24 hours, so in that sense, yeah it works!
