More Questions..AKA Jo's Ponderings

Post by Jomomma » Thu Aug 19, 2004 4:44 pm

When an urge arises we have the before question to look at to try and identify the feelings and ways to avoid self harm
After we slip we have question to help figure out what led to the slip
What we don't have is questions for when we fight and don't slip

I was just wondering if there are things that might help when you don't slip and make it easier to not slip the next time

I doubt I am making much sense but I never do so what else is new

For those times you didn't slip
What did you do for yourself to avoid slipping?
How do you feel now that you made it through the moment?
Will it be easier to not slip the next time the urge arises?

Other questions welcome
Just wondering what goes through others heads when they make it through

Strangely, and for the first time, I shaved. :o I wanted to do something with my tool but not SI. So I took a long shower and shaved all relevant parts, it's the first time I did that when wanting to SI and it felt good. I also thought of my partner, of not wanting to let him down, to see the disappointment/worry/anger/lack of understanding in his face.

I'm very proud of me :) It was a *certain* day and it was the first time since 1990 that I haven't SIed on that day.

I hope not. It's rare for me now to have such strong urges but I will certainly remember this distraction should the need arise again. I don't actually feel completely safe with it as I do have my tool with me, but it worked this time, so it may again.

Love

I am very proud of you as well
I know how hard "that day" can be for you and the fact that you knew it as well and made it is awesome.

Sounds like you did a really great job jo_alone :)

I thought of some more questions:

When did you decide to do something instead of self-injury?
How did you decide what coping mechanism to use?
Was it the general determination to not self-injure, or did something make you want to solve that particular situation without self-harm?
How did the situation change? How would it have changed it you had self-harmed?
