Challenge
I want you to think of the one thing you regret the most. Ignore all the negative and silence the "what if." Now, think of at least one positive thing that came out of it. It can be simple or complex, emotional or material, but there will be at least one positive even from your biggest regret.
My Regret: Not going away to college and taking the partial ride offered. Instead, I stayed in this small town and attended community college because my bf at the time said he'd break up with me if I moved.
Positives:
I know myself better. (i.e. what I want out of a relationship, what I will/won't tolerate)
I got my EMT license while waiting for the next round of distance-learning Bachelor in Social Work classes to start
The instructors I have now challenge me and are wonderful, interesting people who I am happy to have in my life
By staying here, I am in the middle of my friends. Some moved a few hours North, some move a few hours South
I am glad to know all of my classmates who are also interesting, wonderful people (we are a cohort since the program is distance learning and we have every class together until our degree is finished)
I have a wonderful dog I adopted from the shelter, and two cats who I love very much
Most of all, it has helped make me into the person I am proud to be today.

Re: Regrets Challenge
Cool thread.
One thing I've been regretting lately is taking time out of my (very long) degree. I'm not totally sure I've found any positives, but I do know that I had no choice - I couldn't have gotten through last semester, and I have to accept that it'll take me a year longer.

Re: Regrets Challenge
One of my biggest regrets is not going to college.
Positives:
I moved to New York City
I found a job that I adore that I don't need a degree for
I've made wonderful friends here
Met the man I'm probably going to marry
Got out of a horrible living situation and learned how to survive on my own
---
Looking at the positives, I think my biggest regret would have been GOING to college now.

Thank you for sharing, it's inspiring to hear
Licentia, could a positive be just the fact that you are continuing? It shows strength and determination not to let a setback stop you.

Re: Regrets Challenge
Dropping out of college.
Positives:
I learned to be an emt, advanced level, and voluntered for fourteen years.
Went to several classes to learn to be a diesel mechanic.
Secured a good job working on school busses so students in school have a safe ride.
Became a parent and encouraged my kids not to drop out like me.
