what is the definition of coping?
what is the definition of coping?
i told my therapist what i though coping was and she laughed and said my views abouit coping were so wrong. so my question is what is coping?
I've done alot, God knows I've tried
To find the truth, I've even lied,
But all I know, is down inside
I'm bleeding
To find the truth, I've even lied,
But all I know, is down inside
I'm bleeding

Well first off your therapist was wrong to laugh at you in my opinion. I think for me coping is how you deal with certain things. Some people cope with stress by exercising, others use meditation, parayer, or whatever else. Then there are those that use si as a coping mechanism.
To me coping is how you handle certain problems, feelings, emotions. I don't know if there really is any one true definition for coping. I guess it would depend on the person, and the issue.

Cope
–verb (used without object)
1. to struggle or deal, esp. on fairly even terms or with some degree of success (usually fol. by with): I will try to cope with his rudeness.
2. to face and deal with responsibilities, problems, or difficulties, esp. successfully or in a calm or adequate manner: After his breakdown he couldn't cope any longer.
I had to think too then I figured it was best to let good ol Mister Webster say it for me
hehe hoped it helped
