whats up with the orage and white bracelets!!!! need advice
i dont know if i should post how i feel about wearing an orange and white bracelet but here it goes , here i s how it makes me feel.
i have tried wearing a n orange and white bracelet i havent self harmed in 10 months but the thing is when im wearing my white and orange bracelet all i can think of i s cutting, it reminds me about cutting i dont know why so for me the bracelet idea doesnt work for me but if it works for you all thats great. the thing with me it just makes me think of si , do you have any other suggestions for different types of bracelets i know that the orange bracelets is to represent that you self harm or you still self harming and the orange and whit e bracelet represents that you are in recovery or trying to quit, i mean i have nothing agains t this thing with the bracelet but maybe i should make myself an orange one instead of a white an orange cause i still do get urges to SI so bad, im in recovery yes but i do get the urges often like now and just wearing the orange and white bracelet makes me think of SI! i dotn know why . are there any other options for different colors for these types of bracelets? i just dont like the whit e and orange , and i t makes me feel uncomfortable wearing one but i do want to wear one maybe i could wear a ribbon or something similar
please need suggestions for these bracelets
love always maria

maybe you couldjust getlots of cloured beads and make normal braceletts, that way they won't remind you of SI but they will be a distraction to make

Being almost devastated is horrible because it lingers. But total devastation brings a kind of peace. It lets you give up.

The line between normal and crazy seemed impossibly thin. A person would have to be an expert tightrope walker in order not to fall.

You can wear whatever you want, and attach whatever meaning you want to it, I'd say. So if an orange and white bracelet makes you feel under pressure, do something different. All orange, or orange with only one or two white beads, that you can increase as you get mroe confident?
Ribbons - well there's a whole saga about ribbon colours - some people wear orange, some black and red. You can make them yourself, or I got mine (red and black) from Glass Angel... think various folks make them.
But in general, theres no reason why you can't make bracelets or ribbons or anything in any colour you like, just for fun or for symbolic reasons that are personal to you.
Good luck

First of all, welcome!
Um, various groups have been doing various things to raise awareness of self-injury. There's an awareness day on March 1st each year for example. For info on that see the awareness web board at http://www.selfinjury.org/siadbb/index.php and http://selfinjury.org/indexnet.html .
As part of that some people are wearing ribbons or bracelets. Much has been said about ribbon colours in a thread you can find if you search, don't want to reopen all that here But the bracelets I think were the idea of SIAM http://www.si-am.info/ - basically their plan was to wear an orange bracelet if you SI, an orange and white one if you are in recovery, and a white one if you don't SI but support the awareness movement.
Hope that helps.
