Why does it take so long to edit posts?

Post by Astar » Thu Apr 29, 2004 2:24 am

On every other forum ive ever used, post editing was just as quick as posting a new thread or reply, here it is never fast and often takes hideiously wrong.

Why?

Don't worry about giving an answer in straight up tech gibberish, If theres anything I don't understand I don't mind doing a bit of research to fill in the blanks.

No, idea, but I've noticed it too.

Yes I notice that. In fact often when I try to edit a big post, such as the Sourcebook contents or the Coping list of strategies, my browser crashes altogether :omad:
It's weird ;)

often my browser will hit hte one minute limit thing that it has for trying at something, and the popup that it waited too long will come up .. then I click try again, and it usually goes immediately. but if I try clicking the button more than once, all chaos breaks loose, by which I mean, that the "this post or topic does not exist" things comes up ;)

Normally when I edit a post, I just edit it, click submit, wait a second, then close the page, and open a new one, and my post is edited...... magic :o

Yes I've noticed that it actually does edit it even if it doesn't finish loading... weirdness abound!

I was just thinking, Astar, do you use any other boards that are the *size* of BUS ? maybe it has to do with this board being as large as it is.

One of the ones iis about the size of BUS and has pretty sketchy quality of a server computer, Really BUS is on the smaller side of forums.

and here i was thinking that it was some conspiracy to discourage perfectionism in those who find themselves compulsively going back to edit their typos.

My solution:

I've grown tired of the time it takes to submit an edit also. I've remedied this by typing my orginal reply, hitting preview, oops I forgot to do spell check, hit preview again, opps I wanted that in a different color, hit preview, oops the spell check didn't catch that typo, hit preview . . . :D finally I am happy. Hit send, it's submitted for the first time, and no need to take forever editing it after I've posted.
