unread topics persist!

something i've noticed that's kind of cool -- when you log off, your unread topics don't reset the way they did in the old version. they're still marked unread when you log back on. i like that; i used to hate it when i logged on then lost my session and logged back on and lost all of my unread markings.

while it's good, it feels like topics are demanding to be read when i don't necessarily want to and end up pressing the 'mark as read' link a lot more

I like it too Deb. I do also press the "mark as read" button more often, but that's fine as now it's my personal choice, not just dependent on me logging out. At least now I know I've REALLY read all I need to, not just forgotten about important posts because they're not highlighted.

what is the "mark as read" button?!

when you click into a forum, on the right towards the top of the page there is a button which says 'mark topics as read' or something like that, if you click it it will mark all the threads/the whole of that sub-forum as read, i don't think you can choose just to mark individual threads as read, but may well be (and probably am) wrong on that.

edit: there is also one on the very first page which you can use to mark everything as read.
