watched topic list and notification emails

Post by han » Fri May 15, 2009 2:30 pm

hello

Is it possible to keep the watched topic list (which i use to keep track of posts) but stop getting email notifications?

as i use the watched topic list all the time, and never use the emails it means i just have to spend hours deleting emails...

just wondered if theres an option somewhere i can check that will solve this for me?

thanks

I don't think so, but I wish there were. I have the same issue, even though I don't watch many topics. I wish I could use my "watched topics" list to keep track of threads I want to check back in with, without getting a zillion emails.

If you go in and edit your profile, there is a place where it says "notify me of replies". You can check the no button and you would stop receiving emails. Also, when you reply to a post, at the bottom of the reply screen there is a box that says "notify me when A reply is posted". Uncheck that box and that will also help keep you from getting the emails

I think i've tried this in the past and it stops you from following the topic on the watched topic list as well as stopping the emails...

thanks

Me too, han. I think there just isn't currently any way to "watch" a topic without getting emails about it.
Well, I mean, you could keep notes and links somewhere, but that's not really what you're looking for, is it?

yup prox doesnt seem to be a way... thought it was worth checking!

it might be more people than just us want to do this, so maybe something to bear in mind for any future clever web trickery work ;-)

*nods* I've been keeping this in mid as something to ask about if/when we update BUS to new software.

I would definitely be interested in being able to have watched topics but not get the emails!!

As would i. I had to create a new email address just for bus notifications in the end because they were clogging my inbox...

If you're on hotmail you could create a folder for emails from BUS to be automatically sent and then it'll be easier to delete them.
So go downtown
Where all the lights are bright, downtown
Waiting for you tonight, downtown
You're gonna be alright now, downtown
