songs that help cope

Post by cheyenne danae » Mon Mar 24, 2008 2:55 am

I've found that writing poems about how I'm feeling helps me deal with the urge to self harm and it also helps me to talk to an online friend who knows what I'm going through. But lately the poems haven't been helping and tonight my friend isn't online, and I'm feeling extremely suicidal/depressed. Listening to songs about suicide and depression usually helps me a lot because it makes me realize that I'm not the only one who's felt this way, but I'm tired of the ones I usually listen to. Can someone reccomend songs about suicide/depression that they've heard and/or enjoy?

(I listen to a lot of emo/rock/alternative and stuff like that if it helps)

Also feel free to add anything that you've found useful for others who are having hard time coping with urges to self harm...

"When the rich wage war, it's the poor who die"~Hands Held High by Linkin Park

"'And so the lion fell in love with the lamb,' he murmured.
I looked away, hiding my eyes as I thrilled to the word.
'What a stupid lamb', I sighed
'What a sick, masochistic lion'
He stared into the dark forest for a long moment, and I wondered where his thoughts had taken him."~Twilight pg 274

there's been heaps of threads on sad/depressing songs... they help me too, but sometimes uplifting songs are a better idea :)

sorry you're feeling so bad right now.

there's heaps of things you can do if you feel like SI'ing here: http://buslist.org/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=34500

if you really are feeling actively suicidal, please call someone in real life. you don't deserve to feel that way and be alone.

I hope you feel better soon, remember that bus is always here for you and the fastest way to get responses is to post on the main board :) coping is awesome but it does move a tad slower.
