Something interesting which makes sure I don't SI
Just thought I'd share the following reason why I haven't SIed in over 4 months - it may sound a bit silly though....
So when I was IP, we had DBT sessions every day.
During one of the first sessions I was told that I'm not allowed to make decisions if I've identified that I'm in my irrational-mind.
And for me it was as simple as that. Now, my mind works in a very strage way; I am a somewhat visual person in certain aspects - well , anyway. What started happening is the following:
Everytime I felt anxious and wan't to SI a box would appear in my head - like on a computer; saying:
"You are not in your rational mind and therefore do not have the administrative authority to make decisions, please try again later"
...and I don't know - since then my computer-like brain does not grant me permission to hurt myself anymore

We are the girls with anxiety disorders, filled appointment books, five-year plans. We take ourselves very, very seriously. We are the peacemakers, the do-gooders, the givers, the savers. We are on time, overly prepared, well read, and witty, intellectually curious, always moving… We drink coffee, a lot of it. We are on birth control, Prozac, and multivitamins… We are relentless, judgmental with ourselves, and forgiving to others. We are the daughters of the feminists who said, “You can be anything,” and we heard, “You have to be everything." - Courtney Martin.

that's really neat, is it part of some sort of cognitive behavioral therapy?
you will walk the earth with your eyes turned skywards,
for there you have been,
and there you long to return..."

um it's sort of just what naturally happened to me when in DBT (dialectical behavioural therapy)

I think my brain has that, except it's a ping! noise instead of a box, which makes it easier to ignore.
Thanks for sharing that, it is really interesting!
