Do you have a list of distraction techniques? There's a great list of distractions in "Sourcebook"...I find that something that makes me use the logical part of my mind, like Sudoku, puts me in a less emotional headspace.
Have you talked you your girlfriend since you posted? I hope you two worked it out...
