troubles with search

Post by Oceanic » Tue May 15, 2007 2:46 pm

wanted to bring this one back up again.....

90% of the time i'm not able to search my own posts - i keep getting a screen saying that i can't make a search so soon after my last one. (even if i haven't been on bus all day. even if i log out and log back in. and even though for years i've been able to search repeatedly as frequently and as often as i like.)

makes it tough to keep up with the places i like to visit. . . . (i don't like "watching" topics because it a) fills up my email box and b) goes to an email that i don't normally use...but i like it connected to that email.

anyone able to help with the search function?

thanks!

If I get the 'you cannot make a new search so soon after your last' or whatever it says, I try again and it typically works. I don't know how to fix the search problem, but I have a couple of ideas.

I use the watched topics. I just delete the emails, and use the link on the top of the screen. In your email account, it should be pretty simple to filter the emails to a separate folder, and that way you don't have to look at them and just use the link at the top of the screen. If it is mostly places you're concerned about, this could work.

Another way I heard someone mention who followed a few places, was that they usually search for their own name, by thread, in the place forum, and that will bring up all threads they've posted in, and they can look for new replies.

Have you tried using the 'View your posts' link on the index screen? That will bring up all threads you've posted in, in order of when they were last replied to.

Sorry, I wasn't clear.

It's actually the view your posts link that doesn't work. Almost every time I use it it gives me the you cannot make another search so close to your last one.

i don't like the watched topics because i don't necessarily want to watch every topic i post in. but i do like being able to keep track of them (did tha t make any sense?!)

thanks, though.
