Salutations,
I am relatively new to BUS. Here is my experience so far:
I have to admit that the BUS board is helping a lot. I have been avoiding any feelings around cutting for a over year to avoid going IP again. I made some big changes in the last year, and slipped a few times, but I have been very afraid to explore SI.
My therapist suggested a support group, but I rarely talk about myself, especially to strangers. It's taken half a decade for my therapist to gain my trust, and I don't think my therapist is the kind of person who's in it for the money.
So I came here. I told him about it (okay, I wrote it in my journal and let him read it) and he said that BUS was a fair compromise between talking to other people and at least communicating with other people.
I do feel safe here, but naturally since I don't really trust people I am terrified of the wrong person knowing what I write.
I have to admit that it is helpful to have a place where other people put words around their feelings. It encourages me to do the same, even though it is a struggle.
I am amazed at how little I trigger when I read BUS, and at how the idea of a *whole lot of people* in the same boat quells the urge with a raging ferocity so in favour of my personal growth.
I hope you all find BUS helpful in your own ways as well. What a great place to know I can come and be safe. No empty sympathy, just empathy and a collective raise of the proverbial bar.
Peace,
-WriteOn

"... thought Alice, and she went on. "Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?"
"That depends a good deal on where you want to get to," said the Cat.
"I don't much care where –" said Alice.
"Then it doesn't matter which way you go," said the Cat.
