All-Right, All-Night - The Night Coping Tip Thread

Post by Spidey » Tue Feb 06, 2007 10:20 pm

all-right, all-night
a tip-trading thread for keeping yourself safe and OK at night

[bonus points go to whomever can figure out where the title "all-right all-night" comes from, frequent visitors to my place will get it]

nights are usually a hard time for many people. the reasons are various - nightmares, lack of social interaction, lack of ability to sleep, endless time to think and to brood, memories of past events that you've linked to the night, and for some the lack of sunlight.

but nights are not impossible to get through. yeah, it seems like it - that big stretch of time between when you're supposed to go to sleep and the morning, when there's nothing but informercials on tv and nobody's online (or you can't get online) and you've got endless time to brood and think, they can be hard.

the purpose of this thread is to trade tips on coping through the night, especially if you can't get to sleep (there's a thread on that in sourcebook here that might help you, btw). whether it be walking around, counting sheep, organizing stuff, as long as it is a positive, healthy coping mechanism, any and all tips are encouraged.

I'm kinda braindead right now so forgive me but uh, I usually listen to music, read magazines, dvds and videos are usually a good distraction until you get tired if you have a tv in your room. Maybe any kind of art work you're interested in as long as you don't take it too seriously and get frustrated.

Yeah as I said, brain not working too well.

turn your bed upside down ...
either one goes straight to sleep
or you get a different wall to stare at ... 8)

I do lots of crosswords and sudoku at night. I also like to read. Listening to music helps me feel less alone in a big, silent house. Coloring and playing with play-doh are also fun.

Can't think of anything else atm...don't know what I did before BUS? :o

For me I watch a good non triggering movie.... or I have a friend that I can call whenever and he will answer and when I call all late at night he already knows that I am urging.
