...then one day I realised that the people you see in waiting rooms and car parks and on trains are really far more interesting. That they all have whole novels inside them, a fabric of scar tissues, photos and memories. They are comedies and tragedies and - more often - both at the same time.

Can you try and see it in proportion now? You say you're a perfectionist, and you've identified the negative thoughts you're having. Could you work that out more fully and challenge them, e.g. by writing down each negative thought and then writing down a counter-argument.

For example:

"I'm always letting people down". "No I'm not. Sometimes I make mistakes, but that's human. And I'm trying to help out - that's definitely not letting people down! The printer working isn't my fault either"
Act in such a way as to make yourself feel capable and effective

The change starts now.

Thanks for replying, it was a lot of help, and sorry my post was so whinging and self-indulgent! I didn't cut though, so at least it worked...
