linking to people's place threads

Post by Guest » Wed Apr 26, 2006 1:04 am

Ive noticed that when people link to their place it goes to the most recent post. However my link goes to the first post in my place. How can I change my link url so it goes to the most recent post in my place?

I have absolutely no idea.

If you can tell me some people whose links do go to the last post, I can take a look and see if I can work it out.

The only thing I can think of is if they change their sig link every time they post something new...because then you can get the recent address from the little square in the message box...that's the only way I could work out.

Hey, I just learned a way to do this. You get the url of the topic you want to link to (i.e. the one that says t= in it, not p=). Then you add &view=newest onto the end. So to get the last post of your Place, you'd put

Code: Select all

http://buslist.org/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=81257&view=newest
Try it.

There is a drawback, though: it seems if you've already read the last post (or if it's marked as read cos you logged out) then it just gives you a screen saying ''No new posts since your last visit''. That's cos it's not actually linking you to the last post on the thread, but the last one it knows you haven't read, which is sometimes further back, or sometimes none.
