Spring Cleaning (or Archiving ;)

i was thinking maybe it would be a good idea to do some kinda of a spring clean on here (well, it isnt spring here, but it is in half the world, so you know ).
im just looking at some of the old threads, and some of them havent been posted in since 2003. i mean, if they havent been posted in for 3 years, hoqw likely is it that they are going to be dredged up again?
maybe if we got rid of all the material that has not been used after a certain date the board wouldnt be so clogged and would run more smoothly.
maybe the last few of the 768 pages on main are a bit superfluous by now?
i understand that people would be worried about losing certain things or that something that may come in handy in the future would be deleted, and that the admin would possibly be a bit busy with "please dont delete such and such post!" for a while, but maybe it would be worthwhile in the long run?

Yeah, I was wondering about this too... Every other board prunes but BUS just sort of doesn't seem to.

Not criticising, just curious as to why.

good idea if BUS is being slow because of its size - it takes ages now for a reply to load, and i have broardband...

maybe old pages could be archived elsewhere? or would this be too huge a job?

Another forum I go to has an archive forum for old posts that people might want to dredge back up... I just thought about it. Because, it's kinda cruddy to delete something someone might want back up (like a place or whatever).

From what I understand of phpBB, archiving things by moving them to a different forum won't speed things up at all. Only deleting the posts from the database will (or moving them to a seperate database)...
