I need a replacement for the razor

Post by flyingwithstars » Sun Apr 02, 2006 12:46 am

:-? Does anything work to get your mind off hurting yourself? I'm having a hard time taking my mind off cutting right now, I use a rubberband I snap at my left wrist CONSTANTLY at night time, but it's not working lately, anything else that can take the place of my razors?
In my field of paper flowers, and candy-clouds of lulabies, I lie inside myself for hours...and watch my purple sky fly over me....

take the place of in what sense?
obviously nothing is going to be identical...
sometimes it can help to have a sort of sense as to why you're wanting to cut & then tailor a response based on that... eg. if you're feeling sad then watch a sad movie, or do something soothing. if you're feeling angry then throw things or run....

I read Laura's list a few minutes ago, there are so many things on there that can really help me...
thanks for the ideas

this sounds lame but one time when I wanted to cut, I wrote in biro why I wanted to cut all over my arm along all my veins and in all the spaces in between.

It gave me the feeling of working on something.
when it was done it had the same shocking visual affect as a big cut...but more fucked up in a way, so it was satisfying.

Sure. There are tons of things.

There's tons of lists here in coping. Some ones that I suggest are writing, listening to music, or my favourite - tearing up paper.
there is, in the end, the letting go.
