Post by beautiful_facade » Thu Mar 16, 2006 3:00 pm

Um hi.

i just joined welcome wagon...are there any specific tasks to do? Or just generally post to welcome newbies? Don't want to do anything wrong, so would be grateful if someone could just let me know!

Thanking you :)

If I bore you, that is that. If I am clumsy, that may indicate partly the difficulty of my subject, and the seriousness with which I am trying to take what hold I can of it; more certainly, it will indicate my youth, my lack of mastery of my so-called art or craft, my lack perhaps of talent…

Angel, I think things have been a little disorganised here lately, but the general gist of things is to just make new people feel welcome.

There are two main ways people do this - posting in a "I'm new" type thread people have started (which are sometimes listed here if people remember to post them, or just ones you spot on the main board or sometimes arc or family/friends).

The other is to post a welcome PM to new people. You can see who has recently joined by clicking memberlist at the top of your screen, and sorting by date. Sometimes people post who they've PMed here so that we can try and get more people welcomed rather than doubling up too much. There is also a list of people that have been deactivated because they're spammers so it can be worth checking the last few posts of that if you're going through sending a bunch of PMs, because they don't need welcoming. Some people like to send a breif hello, others to give a bit more info, but its totally up to you.

It'd be good to get things rolling in here again. Do you have any other ideas on how to make people feel welcomed to the board?

Hi Mallie

Thanks for that, i appreciate it. That's pretty much what i've been doing anyway, but will sort the memberlist by date and do it that way too.

i don't really have any fresh ideas at the moment, but i'll have a think and if i come up with anything i'll post again.

Thanks.
