help: editing posts taking a long time

Post by swanfaerie » Mon Feb 20, 2006 6:56 pm

i went to edit a post of mine on main and include a photo. i clicked the submit button, and it's been probly 5 minutes and it still hasn't moved past the edit screen to the next screen.

i opened another window to confirm whether my thread title had been edited but it hasn't.

is there something weird going on? i've never had trouble with it taking this long except when i was on dial-up. :-? (i'm on cable internet now).

help please,
swannie

i'm not sure what was wrong with that thread. so i copied and pasted the contents into a new thread then deleted the former. that was really weird. :-?

could it have anything to do with adding an image that i resized using code?

Sometimes they take ages. They used to take waaaaaay longer here.

Editing does take ages, and there is some databasey reason for that - something to do with the way all the words in the post are stored for the Search function or something.

I remember that time when Deb accidentally wiped the Search function, editing was lightning fast for a while.
