TV/DVD/Dish Help! *OT?*

Post by s0_vErY_sCaReD » Mon Dec 26, 2005 8:00 am

Uhm... Hullo all... :wavey:

I got a DVD player for Christmas (yay me!!) and I also got a DVD that I REEEEEEEALLY want to watch, but I can't seem to get the the DVD player hooked up to my TV properly! *gaspus horror!* I'm not the most technologically inclned person in the world, but I DID read the instructions! And there's only two spots in my TV where the DVD could hook up. So... :bag: I is bumfuzzled.

I also have a satelitte dish thru DISH Network and thought that might be a problem, but the spot where the dish connects is not in any way connected to where the DVD says it's s'posed to connect.

When I hooked up the DVD in one configuration, I cant get the DVD to work... When I hooked up the other configuration... I couldn't get the Dish OR the DVD to work. :oconf: :oconf:

Any help anyone can offer would be fantasical! :help: :help: Thank Yous!!

You put your tv into the sattelite box then connect sattelite to dvd . So when you turn sattelite off DVD should work with no need of extensions as its quite a simple circuit. If you have the manual for your sattelite reciever it should explain it ours does

If you only have one SCART at the back of your TV then you'll need to get a SCART extension with a couple more SCART sockets on it.

Radbunny... My TV is not directly hooked to my Dish box. Its hooked up via a cable (like used for cable TV) to the Dish box which is in anudder room.

The back of my TV kinda looks like so (pardon my arcahic Paint Program) :

nuttin... I switch on the dvd and it does nothing to the TV. I can open and close the DVD player and all that, but it has no effect on the TV. I tried everything.... :sniffle: I think my TV is too daggone old.

ok plug it all in the top set off three with the white going to white, the yellow going to yellow etc.

place a dvd in the player and turn it on

then go through all the channels on your tv remote from 0-10

if the dvd info doesnt show up then see if there is a button that says tv/av

if there is press it 3 times slowly seeing if the info shows up on any of the different streams

if all of this doesnt work move the plugs into the bottom set and repeat all the above sets

if it still doesnt work try putting a different dvd in and repeating

I called the makers of my DVD player... I hafta buy a RF modulator-thingie in order to use the DVD player with my oldy TV.

 SOOOOO... I have to wait till I move (back in with mum & dad no less) and have my dad play around with everything until he gets it working. Mum says it will be a great thing for him to do. That he will LOVE the challenge.

Thank you all for your help! It has been muchly appreciated. :1hug: :okiss: I just have to wait now.
