LOOKING AFTER YOU.
We are worth more than just surviving. We deserve to live. We have to learn to look after ourselves in ways that go beyond just the bare basics. We need to learn how to treat ourselves, be nice to ourselves etc. I am aware that we all have reasons why we aren’t good at looking after ourselves; there are always things that get in the way of it.- Our feelings about ourselves, our learned habits, and negative thinking, are some. But we all have choices.
This Christmas we need strategies and we need to plan how we are going to look after ourselves. Here is a brief method of making sure we take time out for us. We have to choose to do them though!
The things to consider are: time, space, fun, chill out, and help.
So how can I make:
1. Time. – get organised.
• Delegate/ say ‘no’/ don’t take on too much.
• Don’t try to be or have everything perfect.
• Accept others standards, remember ‘good enough’ is enough.
2. Space:-
• Make boundaries, reinforce and repeat them to people if you have to.
3 Fun time:-
• Choose to have fun. Whatever is fun to you. If you don’t know, take a risk and find out, experiment.
• Spend time on your hobby.
4 Chill out:
• Anything that chills you out, walking, music, a bath, films, sleep.
5 Help:-
• Ask
• Scream!
• Be assertive.
• Pick up the phone. (Make a list of help lines or people you can call if you need to. Keep them by the phone or on your person)
• Go on line.
NOW On a piece of paper write down 5 headings and leave gaps for answers, (Answers have to be within the boundaries of staying safe.) EG.
I WILL MAKE TIME:
Say no.
Delegate.
Remember ‘good enough’
MY SPACE WILL BE:
My bedroom
Going for a walk
Bath
MY FUN WILL BE:
Music & dancing
Having a drink
Games
MY CHILLOUT METHOD WILL BE:
Music
DVD
PS2
A V. occasional smoke. (if all else fails)
IF I NEED HELP I WILL:
Ask
Go online
Pick up the phone.
hope you all have a good Christmas.

Christmas survival stratagies.
I only know as much about myself as my mind can work out under it's current conditions.
And it's current conditions are not good.
