Removing Sharpie from Skin

I know that this topic has probably been raised before, but I need to ask. I recently discovered that writing on myself in red permanent marker (Sharpie brand) makes a pretty darn good coping mechanism. However, after I'm done the marker won't come of my skin completely and seems to rub of on everything I don't want it to. I'm getting tired of having to where black and red until it wears of. I've tried several things: rubbing alcohol, exfoliants, acetone, methanol, baby wipes, toothpaste, shaving cream, and good ol' fashioned scrubbing. Nothing seems to remove it completely. Currently I am using a combination of baby wipes followed by vigorous scrubbing to remove most of it. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get it off my skin?

maybe nailpolish remover. i wouldnt use it alot though because of the fumes.

Pernement markers will do that: they are pernament. By some non pernament ones.

It's is a good distraction though and I'm glad you found one that helps you.

Thanks everyone! I have considered the idea of non-permanent ones, but for some strange reason, I like the using permanent ones. I haven't quite figured out what my hang up on that one is yet.

Yeah, only the permanent ones worked for me, too. I would just wear black, but the nail polish remover idea is a good one. Thanks!

I think permanent ones leave a better, longer-lasting mark, which makes it closer to the real thing. Plus, I've found (as an artist) that the color is better than non-permanent ones.

I would agree about the color. I choose a red one specifically because it more resembles blood.

The black and red clothes work now, but once summer comes it will be harder to hide the marker and I have a tendency to write words (some not so nice) from mid-forearm to shoulder. That'a bit hard to hide.

According to my d, the permanent markers are the only ones that do the trick. The non-perms are OK but not quite sufficient.

According to me - nail polish remover. It's brilliant. Also gets rid of those nasty sticky marks after steri-strips etc.

And if you get it on your clothes and you can't put nail polish remover on them, try "Vanish" stick stain remover. It gets rid of pretty much everything, grass, blood, chocolate, red permanent marker, spaghetti bolognese.....

interesting stuff to note.

I come home from work (teaching) with red-blue-green-black hands from overhead and dry erase markers. that stuff doesn't like to come off either.
