Just one more theme? Please?
Could we please please please add just one more dark theme? Quidditch is shockingly purple and subblack is now black and white.

Hmmm. It might be my eyesight, but I think it's black and pale cyan actually. I never really understood why it had to be changed from black and yellow as found at http://www.phpbb.com/styles/demo.php Also, it is even worse than Quidditch for the insertion point (text cursor? The thing where you type!) not being visible. It's really invisible, as in black on black - even using Universal Access tricks I can't make it show.
You probably do have a point here - I thought we were going to have 6 themes, half light and half dark. But it seems we have 7 and only 2 are dark. I am admitting this even though I don't like dark themes
We seem to have some themes that are similar, at least to me.
Access is a lot like subsilver in colour and layout, just in a bigger, sans serif font. And they have the same annoying animated popular post symbols
SubZa and Chrome are both light grey and have a sort of narrow layout. The main difference is that SubZa has more (imo better) contrast. They use different post symbols but the popular ones are still animated.
Diddle is certainly in a class of it's own. I guess you either love it or hate it, and I'm the latter
Subblack - well I preferred the unhacked version, but for me the animations and the invisible cursor make it a no-no.
Which leaves Quidditch. I'm using it because it has no animations. Its Forum Index layout is weird, with more space for the list of mods than for the forum description, and it has a near-invisible cursor problem as I said. I don't mind purple, but it sounds as if you do.
<i>sigh</i>
It is probably impossible to keep everyone happy, and of course the whole point of having fewer themes is to make the board quick to upgrade so as to prevent further hacker problems. But yeah, there are only 2 dark themes out of 7, and if a complaint about "gold" causes SubBlack to be altered, then why not a complaint about purple...

I'm still in SubBlack as part of my research for the above but I went and hunted for the post where it was decided to alter SubBlack (here: viewtopic.php?p=1431471&highlight=gold#1431471 ) and I found another annoyance: if you use a keyword search, when you view the posts you found, the keyword is highlighted in... yes, you've guessed it, black on a black background!

well, i can uninstall and reinstall subBlack, and maybe add black and white. not all of the features that have been added will be available on black and white right away, though. not a huge issue except for mods and admins.

It'd be great to have SubBlack back as gold and black again. Thank you so much! I know it's trivial, but I really do appreciate it.

I'd also really like it if subblack was changed back to the way it looks in the demo.

Someone else recently said they like the hacked SubBlack viewtopic.php?t=77035
Since there's only 2 dark out of 7, I think the original idea of having one more theme is a good one. Say... if you just happened to pick a dark theme that had no animations (eg DustyGreen, ExposionDark, EZHypershadow, FSDark, GrayEye, MilleniumFalcon, MissionImpossible, Odyssey, SubMerged or any of the four beginning with Vereor - not that she's checked or anything ) then I would definitely champion your cause

doesn't the sidebar thing on dustygreen bother you? (it moves)
explosiondark is ok..
I think a lot of people wouldn't like the green on fsdark .. though I sort of like the color, I don't like the structure.
the others I don't like ...
is it possible to remove the animations, and replace them with normal images? I like subblack in its original, non-hacked form.

The sidebar thing moving - I hadn't noticed it, so my computer obviously hasn't either. I think it's only animated Gifs that cause trouble. It's a known issue in Safari - people talk of it all over the mac community, eg http://discussions.info.apple.com/webx? ... 68ac0846/5
Some seem to be saying that the 10.3.9 update may have fixed it, so perhaps I'll give subsilver another try...

well, subblack hasn't changed, yet ... so it's still the hacked version - is that what you mean?Priceless wrote:im sorry to complain but i liked sub black as it was, im not big on that gold thing, cant we have two types of sub black?
I think that deb wants to avoid having a lot of themes again, it makes the board harder to update.

it's not the hacked version. i changed it this morning. if you're not seeing it, try refresh.
i'm sorry i haven't gotten to this quickly enough for some of you.
we can't have two of any theme (regardless of how many of themes i want to have) because trying to change the name on a theme is a bitch and i don't want to mess with it.
i've installed vereor men in black. i hope this works for people.

*does a happy dance that subblack is back to black and gold*
I'm still not seeing the admin names unless I highlight the area with my mouse, though. The mod names are in green and show up fine.
Thanks Deb!
