new specialized board themes

there are three new themes:

MS Simplicity -- light, doesn't have signatures in posts
BBTech -- dark, doesn't have signatures in posts
chairs -- doesn't use tables

You have to go to your Profile up at the top of your screen. After your profile is up, there are things you can change...one of them is your Board Style. There is a drop-down menu that you can choose from and change as you like. Hope that helped.

yeah i just checked out the chairs theme, its pretty cool, but there seems to be some bugs with it. heres what ive seen so far:

- peoples bus rank (the llittle busses) sometimes appear next to thier avatar rather than under it, depending on the size of thier avatar
- the actual text part of the bus rank ie. 'town counciler' isnt shown.
- you cant see the scroller on the the topic reveiw thing

uh thats what ive spotted so far.

Web pages are marked up in html/xhtml. This is a markup language which says what bits of the text are what eg x is a header, y is a sub heading, z is a signature. Early html was also used for formatting, so if you wanted data to display in two columns then you'd write it as a table, with each entry for each cell identified as being in column x and row y, all enclosed within a table element.

Later html separates function and layout, with html markup *only* labelling the semantic function of a piece of text, and the layout being controlled through a separate document written in CSS (cascading stylesheets language). A two column layout would therefore be achieved by giving the stuff to go in the first column id1, and the stuff for the second column id2, and then stating the position for each id in another document. Hence, layout is achieved without using the <table> element in html, and the template is "no table".

Basically it just refers to how the text you see (try viewing the source code) is marked up underlyingly. Tables vs css does promote different types of layouts (css is far more flexible than html as regards formatting because it was specifically designed to handle formatting), but as an end-user you're unlikely to spot it unless, like me, you make a habit of checking the source code of every page you visit. The main difference for you is that use of css reduces bandwidth use on the server and gives your browser less to load, so you have a faster browsing experience. This is because formatting for the whole site can be controlled in one document, rather than being downloaded with every page you visit. If you use a text only browser, or a screen-reader or a pda to use the web then a no tables layout is also more likely to display in a manner such that you can use the webpage.

I need the clear tables dividing the different boards. I dont like any of the profiles currently for the bus board.

I sincearly hope one of my first four gets chosen, even if its one of the "dark" choices. its the only one where its the most readable for me. I actualy have found with windows exploror properties how to dissable colour/font and text size so that I can use my own text size and font type. However I do use the bus colours, and layout cause I cant change that myself with windows exploror it would really screw up most websites and make many unreadable for me.

I hope that the others are picked soon.

If you mean the ones Deb mentioned above - check the date: this is a very old thread.
Because of a recent software upgrade there are only about 4 themes on offer right now. There's a thread on Main viewtopic.php?t=74642 where you can request particular themes to be installed.
