You could start with sticking in some nice photos that remind you of happy times. You can get people to write you nice messages in it, you could write your favourite quotes in it, stick in anything pretty that makes you smile!

Good luck.

Somewhere in this forum somebody wrote about things to write down and keep with you to distract you... I can't find it, though. Look around and you're bound to find some answers, there's something for everyone here.

My Suggestions

Uhh... Well, it could be a sort of diary.

Every time you feel like you want to do any of the things you stated, write down all your feelings in a book. Then go and do something that you enjoy and that will distract you from your bad feelings.

Something simple like calling someone, [a close friend] talking to someone, listening to your favourite cd; or even doing something totally mad and random!

Another way of distracting yourself that works better in the long-term is taking up a new hobby, instrument, etc... and then you can do one of these whenever you feel bad.

Music is a great way to help you. I listen to loud music when I'm angry or upset, and it's really theraputic; even metal and rock can be theraputic!!!

Or you could draw, paint, write short stories, go shopping, meet up with people, go for a walk. ANYTHING that will stop you from doing any of these. In your emergency book, write a long list of all the things that you would do if you got a really bad urge.

E.G.
1. Do not cut
2. Write, Draw, Paint
3. Listen to music
4. Go out for a walk
5. Call someone [recommended, they can talk you out of something]

That's just an example; I've been thinking of doing something along the lines of that, too.

Well, I really do hope everything works out and you're feeling better soon enough.

Lots of love, support, and all my best wishes,

From Hannah :):):):)

I keep postcards and cards that my friends have sent me in mine. When they arrived in the mail, I felt cared for and extremely special to my friends, so when I look at the postcards, I remember those feelings and it's helpful. I have also printed off emails or bits of chat logs that have been especially important to me. Posts I've written about times I've felt successful over something, too, because they remind me that no matter how I'm feeling right now, I *can* do good and get myself places.

I made one wall in my room the "always remember the good times" wall
and friend have given me stuff to put up there, and everything on that wall is happy and I can look at it when I'm sad. I sent a request to my friends for things, maybe you could try that?
