OT energy usage

Does it take more energy to turn your computer on and off three times in a 12 hour period or just leave it run and turn the screen and sound off?

Well, that depends on what sort of power usage the individual machine has. I know that when it's on "Stand-by" it takes up next to no energy because I left my laptop on standby for a period of several days and the battery life went down about 1% (It has a battery life of two hours), because it turns off the harddrives, and runs the processor and just enough capacity to sense when you move the mouse or touch a key....
