On Cats & Emergency Boxes
I had a brilliant idea, or so it seemed.
I adore my cats, so in the creation of my emergency box I included a small sealed bag of catnip that I bought at pet store. La de da la la. So I go about my day, and take a shower.
I reenter my bedroom to get dressed, and what do I spy? My cats have tossed my emergency box up against the bookshelf to get it to open. There is a large mound of catnip in the middle of the room. One cat is rolling in the pile, stomach up, trying to lick the catnip while upside-down. A second cat is nibbling the top of the catnip pile. My third cat is running around the room in circles.
So alas, my brilliant idea has failed somewhat. But it was amusing, just not quite the time I planned. I shall clean up the mess tomorrow...

hehehehe. catnip is like kitty drugs.
my mother is anti-catnip, but we got some for our cat once, and he acted seriously crazzzzzy, and so no more catnip for our kittys.
But then our neighbors started growing it in their garden, so our current cats get it whenever they want, so that's ok, but they don't go wacky like with a concentrated ammount.
I agree with plantt, maybe the kittys were having a crisis

Amid the tornadoed Atlantic of my being, do I myself still forever centrally disport in mute calm; and while ponderous planets of unwaning woe revolve round me, deep down and deep inland there I still bathe me in eternal mildness of joy.

A catnip teetotaler? how curious...Proximity wrote:my mother is anti-catnip
Anyway, my box is fine, it didn't have a lock or anything on it, so one they got the top off they left it alone.
But string is not safer...oh no...my cat actually swallowed some and it wrapped around his intestines (very possibly tearing them to bits). The chance of survival is about 1/20. He made it, but the surgery was so expensive he now costs approximately $250 per pound
hmm...well, I shall have to teach them not to turn to drugs in a crisis...

I heard that could happen with cats and string no good poor cat!
you know what's a good safe cat toy? those plastic track things with a ball stuck inside, and they can reach their paws in and bat it to make it go in a circle.
nice and safe.
(and very very annoying)

CATS RULE!!
I have two sisters and they are such blessings. They have an amazing sense that something isn't quite right and will check on me. They also teach me how to relax and not worry about life's nonsense. I love cats and how they are capable of keeping things on their terms and still be so desirable. They are a true gift.... and mine LOVE catnip!

Cats are the best for cheering you up. They don't care what you do or how you look. they just love you as long as you feed 'em. I have six currently.
It's hard to cut when you're holding a cat.

My cats have one of those! They love it. Can sit for hours batting the poor ball and trying to get it outProximity wrote:I heard that could happen with cats and string no good poor cat!

My cats have so many toys it's ridiculous. when someone new comes over, which rarely happens, they have to be warned about all the cat toys on the floor. We're just used to avoiding them. They are so spoiled!
