Using Quotes

Post by FarSideGirl » Sun Aug 15, 2004 10:52 am

Hi There,

I know this might seem a little silly, but I can't figure out how to quote. I think it is really useful to use quotes from a post to reference to when answering on a busy thread and I just dont know how.

Help?

highlight the text you want to quote, and copy and paste it into your own reply.

then highlight it again, and click on the quote button up top ^
this will add what are called quote tags either side of the text.
or you can just add these in yourself by typing them.

if you want to include who *said* the quote add ="poster's name"
after the word in the first tag. (example below)

so for just a general quote you'd have written:
[quote]some text[/quote]

and for a quote attributed to a certain person, i'll use you as an example.... you'd have written:
[quote="farsidegirl"]some text[/quote]
