What's going on with signatures?

Post by guest11 » Tue Jan 11, 2005 11:51 pm

OK, I know this technically doesn't apply here, but I can't think of anywhere else to put it...

Some people's signatures are huge, and it kind of annoys me. A one line post can take up an ENTIRE page, and it's not like I'm running in a small resolution, it's 1024x768. I just think it's silly.

I'm sorry if I'm being a pain.

I completely agree...and it seems like this keeps getting rehashed, but it just doesn't seem like people pay much attention....sorry Dan...it is annoying!

not to be contentious, deskana, but the picture in your sig is 14k. for dialup people that's pretty huge.

we've asked in the past that people keep images in their signatures to under 4k or so. i'm looking into ways of enforcing that.

While I won't argue with that, I think what Deskana was wanting was for there to be a limit on width in pixels, or something, and if there is one for it to be reminded of again. I'm in sympathy with that request as well because if somebody has a very wide one then it expands the whole page and makes it hard to read. Applies to posts as well when people do "Heeeeeeeelp" with more e s than I'll put here, only at least that's only one thread. Does checking preview on that help? I dont' emember.

I can't actually say I agree with 14k being huge on dialup, cause I was only on it a few weeks ago, but I'll attempt to reduce the filesize.

And I was actually referring to width and height more than filesize, though I think filesize is a good argument too.

Sorry if I was unclear...

not to compare BUS to psyke...but I know this is what they do... if you don't fix your signature...whether it be too large or too graphic...they take away your access to having a signature...just a thought...

that's kinda harsh. i'd rather work with people to get them to behave. there may be a mod i can put in that will check signatures and not display them if they're too big; i'm not sure.

Sorry if I made that sound like a suggestion...just letting you know what others do...I really shouldn't complain because I'm on cable internet....it's just annoying that's all.
