Difference between forums?

Post by libby » Fri Oct 29, 2004 8:17 pm

Hiya, I've just joined and I've got a question..... already! lol!

What is the difference between the 'Bodies under Siege' and 'Coping' forums? Cos they have similar things in, and I'm not sure what to post where....

TIA

Well, Copoing is aimed more at coping techniques and reassurance for people that are having troubles coping with their feelings. Bodies Under Seige is for self-help and advice for more general problems that don't really have a category.

P.S. Welcome to bus!! :):) Here's a welcome cow: :moo:

Hey, I've always wondered that, and I used to be a Coping mod

Coping, much like Hannah said, is a place for asking about and sharing various coping strategies, so you'll find there are lists of alternatives to do when you want to SI, and people sharing their reasons for wanting to stop, and discussing ways of coping with all sorts of other things too, like bereavement or insomnia or hearing voices or whatever. Bussers are full of ideas :D Coping is also the home of threads like the Place to Scream, Place to Cry, and Things Left Unsaid.

It used to be that Coping wasn't read as much as Main, so if someone was posting a kind of urgent "help me cope right now" kind of post, it would be better on Main. Not sure if that's true now. Main is a sort of catch-all forum, pretty much anything can go there, especially if it's important that lots of people see it. But the downside of its being busier is that things get buried, so for that reason, if someone posts about a really good Coping strategy on Main, that's great, but once it starts to slip off the first few screens we might move it to Coping, so it stays visible.

Confused? I am. And I suspect the other mods may have a different take on this anyway. Certainly don't worry about it - there's a lot of overlap, and posts can always be moved: just pm an admin or a mod for that forum, or they might pm you and offer to move something if they think it's a good idea.

Take care
Love Laura :java:

Thanks Laura

After hanging around for a few days, I notice that the main BUS forum appears to move much quicker, and I probably did put my post in Coping when it prob should have been in Main, but I'm not too fussed.

I whinge about the same thing in Place anyway lol! I like repeating myself!
