Threads that require side-scrolling UGH!!!

Post by soulstory » Mon Sep 13, 2004 7:46 am

Sometimes when I read a thread on the message boards, I have to constantly scroll left and right to read it because it does not fit on my screen otherwise. I don't always have this problem and I think it is caused by people putting too many images side by side in their signatures... I don't know. But it's driving me crazy!!! It takes twice as long to read a thread when you have to scroll left and right. I don't think it's my computer because it doesn't happen on every thread.

I just wanted to know if there is a way to get rid of this problem.

Thanks

I don't get that on many threads, only on ones where there are really long bits with no spaces (like the Scream post on Coping for example).

I don't think there is anything you can do about it - I assume your browser window is a wide as it will go?

there's nothing you can do about it i'm afraid.

it annoys me too :-?

it happens when people post things like this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! but with fifty thousand more exclamation marks without any spaces

it also happens to a lesser extent when people post large pictures.

Well, you could turn up your screen resolution. That would reduce the problem to a minor extent.... with the smaller images I mean. It won't reduce the !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!s any.

Go to Control Panel (Through Start -> Control Panel on XP or My Computer -> Control Panel on other operating systems) and go to Display. Go to the Settings tab and move the slider up a bit. It will increase the number of pixels (little dots) on your screen, meaning more will fit on. It should reduce it to a lesser extent. :)

Thanks for the feedback. I just won't read threads that require side-scrolling action  That way, I'll hopefully stay less annoyed.
