Hi, I'm Sarah and I'm one of the mods on f/f.
I'm English by birth but I live in Gibraltar. That's not out of preference, just because I married a Gibraltarian guy who had better career prospects than I did. (He said.. "will you marry me?"....I said...."Yes, so long as we don't have to live in Gibraltar"...) So as you can see, I'm really in control of my life . Actually it's ok here, and there's only 30,000 Gibraltarians in the whole world, so it makes you feel a bit special .
I'm a PA by trade but not by inclination. I just ended up with a bunch of qualifications in languages and typing etc, so I sort of fell into it. Anyway I'm not employed at the moment, my previous job was way too stressful and way too against my inclinations, so I jacked it in. Am looking for something that'll soothe my soul a bit more....
I have to admit to 2 cats too, they're my huge passion in life, a house doesn't feel like a home to me unless there's a moggy or 2 around. Bertie is the skinniest thing you ever saw, he's 16 and has chronic kidney malfunction but he's the best cat in the world. Unfortunately he belongs to my daughter. My cat, Cleo is fat, flirty and totally brainless.
I've got two kids and I love them both to bits. My son is 20 and at Uni. He's a computer geek (which is handy cos I so am not, so he helps me out with the technical stuff on bus) and just the nicest guy I've ever met, and also the most annoying. He is so laid back I don't know how he gets out of bed in the morning....um, often he doesn't.... And my daughter is 23, and the reason I first came to bus. She's beautiful, intelligent, intense, loyal, and a brilliant friend with the most wicked sense of humour. She said I should visit bus and read, to help me understand SI.
So, my strong points?... Well, I can listen quite well, I'm very adaptable and I have a HUGE sense of fair play (must be that awful grammar school I used to go to ). And I've been through so much of the stuff I read on f/f myself - never the same, we're all too different, but I just see myself on all these stages of the road - including places I've not even glimpsed yet cos they're still to come. It would be really cool to help pass on some of the good things I got from bus to anyone who's as lost as I was, and learn from those who've got it all more sussed than I ever will.
My weak points are (still) opening my mouth before I've engaged my brain, and this really annoying tendency to use humour to defuse a situation or put across a serious point... that one's always getting me into trouble And lots more that I'm not willing to admit to unless you catch me out!!
And my PASSIONS are - xbox (Hi Kazz, but I prefer Halo 1!!); playstation for the Final Fantasy series; cats, as above; music ,especially Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd (well I am old), Linkin Park, Evanescence, Nightwish and Nora Jones; reading sf and fantasy (especially the Pern series by Anne McCaffrey); and talking. Lots and lots and lots of talking.
I'm online nearly every day so PMs are good if you want to talk about anything.
