why you couldn't post a moment ago

some wankers with too much free time were spamming the place with porn. i got an urgent message from mia and decided to create a user group with everyone who's registered in it, then delete the people who registered today (if you lost posting access, please pm me and let me know so i can restore it).

you were gettiing error messages because most of this was work i did directly in the database, and there was some lag between making things immediately safe and restoring everyone's posting permissions.

the result is that you cannot post to the board unless you're in the usergroup, and you can't apply for the usergroup. so if people register wanting to spam, we can shut them down. i'm going to set things up so that we keep the usergroup and i run a script every few hours to add new registrants to it.

rhanks for giving me a heads-up, rhonda. fortuntely, i do sql for a living now, and i've been screwing around with phpbb for way too long.

the oly weird thing is having to do it all in the dartabase. you an't do anything with the usergroup except through the database because it's so huge the server thrashes,

i really appreciate your letting me know this was a possibility.

i'd just forget about them. it is unpleasant to suddenly be looking at scat pr0n when you're not expecting it, but you can get over it. they get off on freaking you out, so laugh it off.

i looked at their booard. wow. i've never before seen so many people so convinced of their own superiority with such little reason.

don't bother with them. little boys (maybe girls, too) who get their rocks off by cleverly inflitrating boards (by signing up! how brilliant!) are pretty insignificant in the grand scheme of things.

gnats can be annoying, but they don't matter.
