Another board that I moderate on is thinking about getting a debate forum and I mentioned to her the neat way you guys have memberships/usergroups to some forums. She wants more info, and I'm not sure what to tell her.
I guess what I'm asking is info about what software version/name is run here, and how we would go about implementing usergroups. Any info you can give me I'm extremely grateful for.

we run phpBB 2.0.2 (www.phpbb.com)
The usergroups thing is easy to set up, the link for it already exists, and then once you've got admin powers you can set special limitations on each board (including members of certain group only can post).
phpBB is really good, they run their own board with lots of support, and are usually fast and helpful
