I'm pretty sure this has been covered before... But there appears to be alot of 'guests' that are lurking around in place? I know it is meant to be members only so just wondered how it could happen. I know anybody can sign up and read places anyway so it may be a mute point, but it is a little disconcerting to see.
I think there were 20 on when I last looked. I did a screen dump to show but don't know if/how to put it on here!
Right, off to do some spam busting

Re: Guests in Place
Hmm, that is strange.
As an experiment, I have just logged off (so I appear as "guest") and, as "guest", can't see any of the members-only parts of the board.
My guess is that the place-guests are users who are in the process of registering an account.
Probably most of them are spammers.

Re: Guests in Place
Is it also possible that some of the guests may be people who don't want their name to show when they are online?

Yes, I'm pretty sure that registered users who choose to not show up are shown as "guests".
Let me think about the people who I care about the most. And how when they fail or disappoint me, I still love them, I still give them chances, and I still see the best in them. Let me extend that generosity to myself.” — Ze Frank

Re: Guests in Place
My guess is you are viewing the "who's viewing this forum" mid account deletion for spammers. Guest is what is used for people who are no longer registered instead of "former member". If people choose not to be viewed, nothing is viewed, not even the word Guest. They are in "stealth mode" (to everyone but the admins).
