Jo~
Oh, yes, of course! I always do inform the professor. I just need the DSS authorization as well. Plus, I need adaptive seating (i.e. armless chair and separate desk).

Hey all~
So, yeah, I'm on the hunt for a netbook again. I'd really like to find something for less than $300 USD, but searching the net, I dunno if I can find one that cheap. :-? Any suggestions for a good brand? The specs I need are the same. Word processing program (even sumthing as simple as Notepad/Wordpad) and *maybe* picture editor. Thanks all! :1hug3:

Hey All~
I need a new puter. Desparately. I found this one on OfficeDepot.com, and I would really appreciate some computer-savvy BUS'er to help me figure out if it will do the things I want it to do. :angelic: :pangel: Here's what I want to do:
  • :redstar: Word Processing
    :star: Online Games
:ylwstar: Learning Software (for my 2 year old nephew)
:lgrnstar: Decent Online Speed (duh! LoL)
:grnstar: Webcam (would be nice, but not required)
    :bluestar: CD/DVD drive
:purpstar: USB ports (for my new digi-cam)
Anyone willing to assist? You will have my everasking gratitude! :oturq: :-D  [/size]

Some (maybe over-technical?) thoughts, based mainly on the link to the specs of the machine that you are thinking about.
Word Processing
They are offering this to you (as MS Office) for an extra $99. Your call but OpenOffice (http://www.openoffice.org/) does the same job, is freeware and integrates seamlessly with MS Office.
Decent Online Speed
This has very little to do with your machine. If you have an ADSL connection it depends on the quality of the copper wire b/w you and the DSLAM which receives information for you as well as the distance b/w you and the DSLAM. If you are on cable, it depends on how many other users there are who share it.
CD/DVD drive
From the specs, included.
Webcam
From the specs, included.
Online Games
They are (by definition) on-line so have nothing directly to do with the machine. How easy it will be for you to play them will depend depend on your ADSL/cable connection speed (see my comments above).
USB ports
From specs which I found elsewhere it comes with three USB 2.0 ports.

Summary; I think that it will meet your needs well :) .

Hope that this helps - if you have any questions please get back to me (here or by PM).
