question about citing something from this site

Post by kriya6 » Thu Nov 12, 2009 8:52 pm

Hi, my name is BRandi, I'm writing a paper for class about borderline personality disorder. I would like to use some of the info I've gotten from your site, but can't find most of the info I need to cite it APA style.
I am wondering if you could email me with that info so I can include it on my reference page. Author's name, date of last update, website name, etc. All I could find was the name of the document, Borderline Personality DIsorder, and the url. My email is Kriya6@hotmail.com, thanks a bunch
Brandi

I am not sure specifically what you are wanting to cite, but unless it is something from elsewhere that is linked to here (if so, you should cite the original source rather than here), I would strongly recommend against it. This site is NOT a primary source for anything unless you are wanting a "grass roots" view of an issue or idea. The things posted here have no review process and no guarantee of being accurate.

I can do APA style citations and if you can let me know what article it was you wanted to cite I am happy to help... but for a scholarly paper, you really don't want to be using any random stuff that people have posted here without being able to get more info on it. That won't strengthen your paper, unless this is one that just requires internet citations.

it was an article about borderline personality disorder. I'll try to get back to it and get the URL if that helps

As far as I can tell, this is accurate and hopefully has everything you need. If you find you need more info, let me know and I will try to find it. For "educational benefit" I am listing where I got the info from, just in case you need to be able to show your teacher how you got it.
Author's name, date of last update, website name
Deb Martinson (listed as author on the front page of the secret shame website)
Last modified- Sat 04 Aug 2001(Right click the page, look at "view page info", and it says when it was last modified)
Part of the "Secret Shame" website (you already know this part, since it sounds like that is how you found it)

Let me know if you need anything else and I hope the paper goes well.
