not getting notifications or multiple noties....

Post by Chey Kizoxie » Mon Aug 03, 2009 8:54 pm

I am not sure why but I am not getting notifications when other people reply to posts but I seem to be getting notifications after *I* post and will be my own post. I dont really understand what is going on.

for example I should have gotten a notification that someone posted in the thread about deleting posts but nothing. yet many times in RW for example I was getting repeated notifications in threads such as 1000 page....

I seem to be getting a bulk of email notifications every ten minuts. its been exactly ten minuts for i think the last two hours at least.

very odd. anyone know why?

i think that's a problem that came along with the old board. it might have something to do with the setup server-side, but since I don't have access to the database it's not something i can confirm or deny.

with the old board, notifications would get stuffed up for people for a long time, and then as you've had happen, they'd flood their inboxes (or just disappear).

Maybe, yeah. Have you tried cleaning out your notifications folder?

I meant here on BUS, sorry xD What I meant was did you delete stuff that you're not following anymore?

I just completed your very suggestion this evening. I cleared all my followed messages and subscriptions and restarted but im still getting the notifications in bulk at ten minute intervals.

I think it depends on how notifications are timed then. Do you know of anyone else on BUS that is getting them at the same rate as you (every 10 minutes)?

im not sure, some people say they just are not getting them at all. I used to get them instantly when someone posted.

I switched emails to see if there was a change in the delay but with both hotmail and gmail the emails are delayed in bulk. Since I only have a single server at home I cannot check if there is a difference if I log in elcewhere. I know though the timestamp for when bus sent the message and when I got it in my inbox is different.

Your mail provider might be delaying them.

Dunno. It might have to do to which time the server is set. It's not uncommon to, say, have a server/router have a time as 12:39 when in actuality it's 12:41.
