Post by Blue_Topaz » Wed Jan 16, 2008 9:02 pm

From a much forwarded E-mail dated Monday Jan 14th 2008

BAD Virus --CNN announced -- Snopes confirms as real.

http://www.snopes.com/computer/virus/postcard.asp

A new virus has just been discovered that has been clssified by Microsoft as the most destructive ever. This virus was discovered yesterday afternoon by McAfee . This virus simply destroys Sector Zero from the hard disk, where vital information for its functioning are stored.

This virus acts in the following manner: It sends itself automatically to all contacts on your lit with the title:

'You've received a Post Card from a Family member'.

As soon as the supposed virtual card is opened the computer freezes so that the user has to reboot. When the ctrl+alt+ delkeys or the reset button are pressed, the virus destroys Sector Zero, thus permanetly destroying the hard disk. Yesterday in just a few hours this virus caused panic in New York, according to news broadcast by CNN.

This alert was received by an employee of Microsoft itself.

So don't open any mails with subject:'A Post Card from ' As soon as you get the mail, delete it !! Even if you know the sender !!!

Be careful :)

thank you for letting us know...

there is also a virus called 'Malware Crush 7'...when you do a search
using google, be careful...if you do get "Malware Crush 7' the easiest
way to get rid of it is to to a system restore and restore your
system to a date before 'Malware Crush 7' automatically downloaded
to your computer...'Malware Crush 7' will cause your ethernet
connection not to work and then you can't connect to your dsl connection
unless you connect using a usb cable...
