Worm?

Post by silent_scream » Mon Jul 30, 2007 5:34 pm

I have a worm on my computer. The virus scan isn't getting rid of it, but it keeps trying to block the e-mails being sent from my computer (ALL day). I've tried spybot and a few things and it isn't picking it up!

How do I get rid of it? We got it because my husband clicked on a link in his e-mail (*sigh ;) *)

I can't even open my e-mail anymore.

I know this isn't a computer specialist board, but a lot of you are smart with this type of thing.

Hello

Try googling the symptoms and seeing if there is a "Stinger" out there (a special, small piece of software written to directly counteract specific worms). Or try the McAfee and Norton websites. Also, have you tried Ad Aware to scan the computer?

Good luck. they are annoying litttle ***** to get rid of

I tried adaware and it found a bunch of things which my normal virus checker and spybot didn't find, but it hasn't got rid of this stupid worm. It is still happily sending out e-mails.

I used stinger at my university and it worked quite well. You should be able to search download.com for it. If you could maybe tell us what the link said or what the email was about we could search and find exactly what worm it is and what the patch is.
