I only get them in hotmail.
They all go to my junk folder so they are not right in the front but they are still around and making me annoyed

I'm getting them too. I thought it was stuff bouncing back to the board email that the admins get. That's the same address that notifications go from, so I assumed it was stuff bouncing back from that.

Pretty is right. I'm getting them too. It is from someones notifications for threads not reaching their email and bouncing.

I'm getting them because there's a particular member whose blackberry keeps keeps bouncing their notifications, and we're the person the bounce messages come to.

Greenanel, do you run any mailing lists? Failing that they may well be spam for you.

I think I'm getting them for the same reason you said, Smeagol.

If you don't run, adminster, or moderate any mailing lists or software which automatically sends emails, then "delivery failed" messages are highly likely to be spam. The idea is that you're meant to panic about a message not being delivered and open it. Your email client should be able to tell real from fake delivery failed messages because it knows what messages you've been sent. You can probably trust your junk mail filter on this. :)

i get these occassionally too from hotmail, but they're not spam, it's actually telling you it didn't deliver the message. it will have a message i've sent recently, and the address of the person i've sent it to. it caused some problems when i emailed someone and had a go at them for not replying, then got the note saying it didn't send. anyone know why this happens?

yeh...thanks for the suggestions :)

it's weird though, it's never been when i send it to hotmail accounts. i think it's from my end, the hotmail thing (i use hotmail). and i don't think i could have typed the address wrong, because i just click on the contact name, and it comes up, and i've sent things to this address before and it works, and i know the person still has the account. it's only ever not worked with this one persone, because she's the only person i know with an iprimus account - is their server dodgy or something? or is it something to do with the connection?

Yes, messages get bounced around a couple of servers before reaching the destination. Sometimes they just won't get picked up or the destination server will be down or something. Or they might have reached some capacity built into their account.

I didn't mean to imply that all delivery failed messages are fake, but rather that if your spam filter thinks they are then they probably are. Your email account knows what messages you've actually sent, so it can let failure messages for them into your inbox and then ditch all other ones as spam.
