if you get them frequently, when do you get them -- posting, reading, pm, or something else?

several times over the past couple of weeks, each time lasting one to two days.

i get them when i try to reply to posts or post anything. reading posts has been all right, as have reading and sending pms. it's just been the posting itself that's been affected.

thanks for looking into it!

the next time it happens, try deleting all your cookies from bus and logging off then back on. that may help narrow it down.

I haven't had that for ages, but it used to happen whenever I wanted to move to somewhere else, ie change screen; either posting, editing, or simply changing forum. That said, it must be nearly a year now since I got that.

When I'm posting, every single time. Only for the last few weeks, though - maybe a couple of months. I've tried deleting cookies, but it didn't seem to help.

*breathes in and out slowly to calm down*

is anyone reading this? does anyone have answers?
not only do i get "invalid session error" messages when i try and post, i get them when i try and fix my profile and log out too. and it's been logging me off frequently while i'm on and it usually never does that. also starting today, i've been getting "you have been banned from this forum. contact an administrator" messages when i try to visit places. but when i try again, it lets me go and post.

seriously, it takes me atleast 15 "submits" to post something. it's EXTREMELY irritating. and it's even more irritating because no ones answering this thread, no ones giving us any ideas, no ones even telling us if its being discussed.

anyone?!?!?!?!
(lets see how many times it takes to submit this..)

I have no ideas and as far as I know none of the other board staff do. I'll ask deb to take another look.

Out of interest, do you only get this error at home or do you get it when you log on from other computers?

Try it. If it happens on other computers (preferably not ones using AOL) then that will tell us it's something to do with your profile on bus. If it doesn't happen on other computers then it may be something to do with your browser configuration or your ip address or network provider or something.

I've tried on different computers, with different browsers, with and without cookies. If it's something at my end, it's my ISP. PLEASE can someone attempt to fix this.

right, i can disable session checking entirely by commenting out the code -- i've known that for a while. the problem is figuring out the security ramifications of doing that, and i've not been entirely comfortable with that option. i know it sucks, and i've been really indecisive about how to handle this.

i can implement that on a test basis and see what effect it has. one reason i set up this poll was to figure out how many people were affected by it, so i could use that information to decide what next.
