Last night I noticed that I had an alert at the top of the screen that told me that I had the grand total of:

65,535 new messages....

I was really excited... thought I had loads of new friends.......... but when I clicked on it, there was nothing there! :(

I can't explain how that has happened. I'm not sure if someone who knows more about the inner workings of the board might know, but if it is all working again now it might be hard to figure out.

I know I've had email notifications of a PM, or it say so on the link but when I go its gone. That can happen if someone deletes the PM from their outbox before its read, but numbers like that sound unlikely. It is disappointing to think there are messages that aren't there. You do have friends here, even if there aren't 65000 PMs for you to open :star:

 Thankyou!

It's back to normal now, but I'd be intrigued to know why it came up with that number! :)

I've seen this on other web boards. The reason for the number is that 2^16 = 65536.

Silly me for not realising that when I first saw the number!

I still don't really know why it happens, but I've just had the same thing happen here. Random error I think. I took a screenshot and everything...
