making firefox faster

Post by Priceless » Fri Jan 12, 2007 1:49 pm

ive found this instruction on another board, but it have improved the speed of my firefox her.

heres the instuction
make firefox faster!
couple little changes and it will be fatser

If you run Firefox, you already know it's worlds faster than IE.

But you can tweak it and make it a lot faster still.

In the address bar, enter: "about:config" and hit enter (or press go)

You'll see a ton of settings. The three we care about here are:

network.http.pipelining
network.http.pipelining.maxrequests
network.http.proxy.pipelining

Set them to

network.http.pipelining = True
network.http.pipelining.maxrequests = 30
network.http.proxy.pipelining = True

Do that, makes pages load a million times faster

Or switch to Camino, which is open source and uses way less working memory.

;-)

be -VERY- careful when you use that command or mess with the config

a lot of times what it'll make firefox do is bombard the page with requests and a lot of servers don't like that you'll get banned from the site
there is, in the end, the letting go.

What does those settings do? I don't want to change something I'm not sure about what it does?
