been having problems with BUS logging me out even though i click the "remember me" button and also telling me i'm "banned from the board" when i'm really not.
someone suggested making sure cookies are enabled & emptying cache. what is this and how do i do it? will it mess up anything else on the computer? i have 3 other people using the computer so major changes aren't an option.
sorry for the stupid questions but i'm a computer idiot
cookes & cache stuff

cookies (i think) are filters that protect you from hacking & viruses & stuff.
I usually have mine set to moderate. which you can do by going into tools & internet options.
but..
if others use your computer, then it might be best not to fiddle round with your settings. & if you dont understand much about that stuff, you wont be able to put it back.
my remember me has been a bit dodgy lately as well. though i havent had any banned messages. that is odd. perhaps a question for admin staff.

Cookies are files placed on your computer by websites to remember who you are. Loads of websites (like web boards, online shops etc) use them for useful purposes, but also advertisers can use them to track you, hence most browsers have a setting that lets you reject cookies from certain websites and accept them from others.
I can't tell you how to enable cookies cos I'm on a mac and you're not. But there's much info at http://www.cookiecentral.com/faq/ which should help. If the others using your computer have a separate login account, it shouldn't affect them. If they don't, best ask first.
Emptying the cache is easy and shouldn't mess up anything.
