Incredibly slow..
Is anyone else finding that bus is playing up a bit today? Sometimes it will be fine for a few minutes but then opening up posts can take a very long time. The main problem i am finding is editing posts, i have spent over 10 minutes on two seperate occasions trying to edit my posts to eventually get a 'page cannot be displayed' message. It's flipping annoying.
Other sites run fine for me, just bus. To be honest i am most annoyed because i can't edit out my annoying typos. And i hate knowing i have spelt something wrong
Anyone else, or any ideas what it is?

Me too. I save up trying to read stuff earlier, but it seems faster now.
I never know if it's bus, or the c**p-awful excuse for broadband they make us pay through the nose for here in Gib.

But yeah, bus has been very slow for me too.
Sarah, you can always check how long it takes to load another page (such as www.google.com) to see if it's just bus or internet in general.

disabling search sped things up a bit. i'm about to see how long it takes to optimize a table, so things may slow down quite a bit for a few minutes.

I don't know anything about php, but I'm on another php board which does this so I assume it's possible ....
I know a number of boards that have significantly speeded up by only having the software remember when the last time you were on the board was instead of remembering every single thread and whether or not you've looked at it. Bus seems to do this occasionally, but generally if I don't go through and click to mark all topics read I end up with long long strings of threads that are marked unread, with the things I looked at on my last 11 trips to bus marked unread in the middle of those strings.
I understand why it's sometimes convenient to know whether you looked at someting since the last time it was updated or whether you skipped over it on your last couple of trips to the board, but I do think giving up that feature is one way to speed things up.

gerald, the thing you're talking about is a script that checks your computers cookies, to see which threads you've accessed recently. the script is not actually remembering every single thread you click on, your computer is doing that already, it's just accessing the information.
