why it broke

when you put in the name of a website, your computer checks with something called a dns server -- it translates the domain name into an ip address. the way domain names get linked to ip addresses is through a special server called a nameserver.

the bus nameservers are set up through a company called mydomain.com. they did *something* last night that broke the hell out of the dns resolution, so computers couldn't translate "buslist.org" into a place to go on the net.

they fixed it now, but it's taking a while for it to be updated all over the net. some people can get on now, some won't be able to for a while yet. it should all be back to normal sometime tonight.

at least this time it's not my fault.
