rad new features

Post by sine nomine » Sun Mar 19, 2006 8:27 am

i installed a few things tonight (i went wandering about the download section of the phpbb site):
  • if you accidentally try to double post, you'll get a message telling you you can't post two consecutive replies with the same text
  • when you're viewing a post, the poster's anme is now a link to their profile
  • your inbox now tells you both the percentage used and the number of messages/total allowed messages you have.
  • really long strings of text with no spaces are now broken into chunks automatically, so the message doesn't stretch the browser window

    and (drumroll)
  • when you reply to a private message now, you will see the old message and all previous messages in the pm thread the same way you see all the previous posts in a thread when you reply on the board
that last one, unfortuntely, only works for messages sent after it was installed tonight. still, it rocks.

that's all for right now, though i may add a few more things tonight.

it's fixed now. i was editing the profile display file to make it so you can't view member profiles unless you're logged in, and i accidentally deleted one character. then i didn't notice it til just now.

all should be well now.

i'm about to try something to install a nifty feature. if it fails, things may be weird for a few minutes. just a warning; i've made it so that i can fix a failure quickly but i wanted to warn anyone.

you missed my nuking it completely for a moment, then. i was truly impressed with the havoc i managed to wreak.

all better now. order of oeprations matters, btw -- you shouldn't fix something other thigns rely on until you've fixed the thigns that rely on it.

Ahhhhh
Order of operations
I have heard that is kind of important to pay attention to

Do you tink the fact that you have been messing with all this for hours and it is now 2:30 in the morning has anything to do with it?

these features are TOTALLY NIFTY.

i am especially digging the profile one. but whether or not it actually makes me fill it out is left to be seen.
there is, in the end, the letting go.
